July, 2010 - Intern Ellen

Dear Friends,
When I came to Texas, you lovingly opened your arms in welcome. You invited me into the mission you share as God’s people. And, God has richly blessed me as I have shared life with you, living together in community with you, over this past year. I have also been richly blessed by your individual lives as I have walked beside you in your journeys.
Living out of a place of gratitude, I find a plethora of things to be grateful for.
· I am grateful for all you have taught me and all I have learned. You are a community that claims and proclaims a teaching identity. Education is of great importance to you. Your teaching identity is seen through the educational opportunities offered to the community and the education offered as gift to the greater church through your internship program.

  • I am grateful for the love you have shown to me. You are a people who live the love of Christ in your everyday lives, not just on Sunday morning. The love you share is life-giving for the community and the world. As I have spent this past year far away from family and friends, your love has nurtured my life and I have been deeply blessed.
  • I am grateful for the friendships. I feel close to so many of you and it will be difficult to say goodbye.
  • I am grateful for the Internship Committee. The people who served on my committee have been extremely supportive and they have helped to make my internship experience rich and meaningful.
  • I am grateful to Pastor Phil for his friendship and supervision. He is intently committed to the internship program and I have been blessed because of this commitment and the knowledge he shares.
  • I am grateful for so much more. The list goes on and on………………………….

Whether the experience has been preaching, teaching, dishwashing, cooking, line dancing, playing, picnicking, enjoying a concert or musical, worshipping, or simply enjoying a meal, I have received the greatest blessing and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have played an important role in shaping me and my future ministry and I will always carry you with me. I treasure you and thank God for you.
As I leave, I pray God will continue to richly bless you as you continue your journey together as the body of Christ.
