Minutes of the Sanctuary Renovation Committee
Calvary Lutheran Church
March 7, 2007

Present: Phil Burton, David Larsen, Rick Miller, Roy Reichenbach, Tammy Trudelle, “Van” Van Westen
Absent: Wendy Tedmon

The Committee held its initial meeting in the evening of March 7, 2007 at Calvary Lutheran Church.

The members discussed the purpose or scope of work of the Committee as regards the physical plant of the church congregation. Several perceived needs were brought up, such as Sunday school room expansion, rearrangement of offices, expansion of sanctuary seating, nursery relocation, and removal/renovation of the choir loft and expansion of the sanctuary to include a “gathering area” at the rear exits.

As the consensus of the members was that the creation of this Committee was based on the idea of a choir loft removal/renovation and sanctuary expansion, this then would be the first priority. However, as the Committee moved forward, other possible physical plant needs will be considered and surveys of the congregation members would possibly be held.

As the Committee moves forward, a priority list would be created to eventually recommend to the Church Council.

Van Westen will contact an architect to meet with this Committee to obtain information on the choir loft/sanctuary expansion, and possible ideas for the rest of the church’s physical plant.

Van Westen will obtain a copy of the Calvary Lutheran Church’s Strategic Plan that was created recently, for our Committee’s review and to note if any facility planning was included.

As no future meeting date was set, the next meeting of this Committee would be on a called basis, presumingly to meet with an architect.
