Minutes of the Sanctuary Renovation Committee
Calvary Lutheran Church
April 16, 2007

Present: Phil Burton, David Larsen, Rick Miller, Rex Norris, Roy Reichenbach, Tammy Trudelle, “Van” Van Westen

Absent: Wendy Tedmon

Attending: Rev. Phil Heinze

The Committee met at 5 p.m. on April 16, 2007 at Calvary Lutheran Church with the purpose of meeting with Rev. Bill Bentzinger, AIA, and Church Building Consultant, representing the Mission Investment Fund of the ELCA.

After introductions, Rev. Bentzinger informed the Committee of the services and resources available from the Mission Investment Fund to a church building program. He distributed a written outline of the process involved in a program and discussed with the Committee various subjects including facility planning, fund raising, financing, and the construction process, answering questions as Committee members posed them. Rev. Bentzinger emphasized that the building program should coincide with the Mission Statement of the congregation.

It was decided that the immediate focus of the Committee would be to 1) establish a priority list of facility needs of the congregation, with justification of that need; 2) decide on the best method of communicating our ideas to the congregation; 3) develop schematics of recommended facility improvements/renovations; 4) estimate the seating needs of the sanctuary.

Rev. Bentzinger will develop a preliminary plan of facility development based on the information now available, including financial projections, and meet with this Committee again.

Each Committee member is requested to prepare a list of ten (10) priorities for the Committee to pursue, communicating them to the other Committee members before the next meeting, by email, if possible. The Committee will review these lists in its next meeting.

The next meeting of the Committee is scheduled for April 30, 2007, 6:00 p.m., at Calvary Lutheran Church.

The next meeting with Rev. Bentzinger is scheduled for May 7, 2007, 6:00 p.m., at Calvary Lutheran Church.
