Calvary Couples

Calvary Couples is a couples group, based out of Calvary Lutheran Church in Richland Hills, TX, which has fun while implementing Christ into our relationships. We think of ourselves as a group of couples in our 20-40’s that are friendly, nonjudgmental, and down-to-earth Christians who help one another out through the good and bad parts of marriage/relationships. We base our group from Ephesians 5:22-33, which speaks about God’s principles of marriage.

What should a couple expect at a meeting? Calvary Couples is very warm and will welcome you with open arms! We meet in the church library, because it offers a safe place for couples to share during our lesson. A couple can expect to take part in a discussion led by Justin Brown or Heather Prough-Brown. You will have an opportunity to hear your peers discuss what works or doesn’t work in their marriages and/or offer advice or sit back and listen. This gives everyone a sense of belonging! The group also has mentor “parents” that have been in your shoes and let us know there is hope! Everyone usually leaves refreshed in their marriage, with a new perspective.

Why does Calvary Couples have so many events? Calvary Couples offers a variety of events to help couples, families, and men/women bond. We believe that it is so important that couples and families have a strong support network; adding accountability to the marriage/relationship. Calvary Couples main priority is to help couples relate to one another and “become one flesh. ” Justin and Heather follow this model, because they have had the opportunity to see how well this design works in other churches and hope to increase God’s kingdom by giving people an opportunity to be involved, even if they cannot make it to the Wednesday night group.

Calvary Couples also try to reach out to our group members and community. We have made an impact in many ways! We deliver meals to those who have: recently added a new addition to their family, been hospitalized, or have experienced some other hardship. Calvary Couples also hosted a money/toy drive for an unfortunate family during Christmas, with great success! We also plan to support the CPS Rainbow Room² later this year and other ideas are in the works. The couples feel this is a great way to show Christ’s love!
