“MY HERO"
By: Sharon Baker

Scripture: Psalm 119:154 “Plead my cause and redeem me; revive me and give me life according to Your word.” (Amplified)

My hero is an ambassador. His reputation precedes him. He encounters people from all across our nation, as well as Europe, Africa, South America and most Asian countries. His influence touches every faith tradition, Christian and non-Christian alike. As an advisor, his leadership is highly sought after by people from the highest levels in authority to the common city worker.

He leads with genuine authenticity. His directs complex issues with a calming peace and manages those around him with high regard. As he encounters difficult situations, his God-given abilities communicate stability, integrity and wisdom. He articulates the rights for those who cannot speak for themselves. He defends and argues for the causes of anyone needing his help, regardless of education, religion and nationality. His intervention brings protection for the silent, unseen sufferer.

One would think this man is a lawyer hired by the State Department and commissioned to a foreign country. But he is a chaplain, serving over fifteen different ethnicities and various religions every year. Every day he walks between life and death with someone, as he holds the reigns of ethical principles and strives for fairness, honor and integrity. Redeeming what is “right” for each person without bias is truly “pleading a cause” with righteousness. This man is my hero. This man is my husband.

Prayer: Lord, plead my cause. I can no longer do it alone. Without your intervening redemption entering into my cause, I will be lost. Redeem everything concerning my life. For only You really know my heart and can become my salvation.
