“GIVING AND RECEIVING"
By: Saundra Kay

Scripture: PSALM 107:1-43

It is not uncommon for many of us to live in an expectancy of receiving. Since modern day society, media sources, and free activists focus so strongly on receiving this, that, and the other, it’s almost impossible for an ill-advised individual to turn the other cheek and concentrate on giving.

Because some of our egos believe that we deserve all the sugar, spice, and everything nice we can muster, we are unable to perceive the concept of giving. But when the Word of God transforms our lives, it becomes very clear that the world’s belief systems are upside down; and that giving takes precedence over any manner of receiving. For in the scheme of Godly things, whosoever is wise enough to give praise to God shall receive the goodness of the Lord.

Whether it’s a matter of hunger, thirst, or a longing soul, give praises unto God. A need for healing, a desired haven, or a blessed increase? Give praises unto God. Even when in a raging storm or at our wits’ end, giving praises unto the Lord ushers us into the realm of receiving.

Prayer: Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness,
and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

Saundra Kay is a guest writer from the American Christian Fiction writer’s group. So often Lent is seen only as a season for giving up some of our favorite things or to take on a new work. Today we are reminded that it is also a season to praise God for His very best work....Salvation through His son, Jesus Christ and the Cross.
