MY HEART IS STIRRED BY A NOBLE THEME
By: Georgeanne Falstrom

Scripture: "My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer."... Ps 45:1

"For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength. Think of what you were when you were called. Not many were influential; not many were of noble birth." ...1Cor 1:25-26

Francine Rivers, an award winning Christian fiction writer, had an early career in the secular market, writing steamy romances, reflecting worldly standards and wisdom. Although highly successful, she was not happy. Her search for real meaning in her life led her to Christ, where she found her joy and true calling. The theme of her writing changed from popular exploitation to inspirational fiction and romance. Her best seller, Redeeming Love, based on the story of Gomer and Hosea, is a personal testimony of God’s redeeming love and transformation in her own life.

I recently attended the taping of an interview with her at Daystar TV. As she took the podium, happiness and grace filled beauty were reflected in her face, followed by humility and Godly wisdom in her voice. She was a living example of a righteous and noble daughter of the king, giving him all the glory.

Before she begins a book, she spends about a year seeking God’s wisdom and studying scripture. Her most recent writing is about individual women and men of the Bible, their strengths and weaknesses. Her heart is definitely stirred by a noble theme and reading her work will stir yours.

We are princes and princesses of the king. He has anointed us with the oil of joy and set us above our worldly companions whose theme of life is the foolishness of the world, instead of the noble pursuit of Godly wisdom. He has showered us with gifts and talents to use for his glory to influence others to follow in his path.

What noble theme are you pursuing? What stirs your heart? Are your talents reflecting foolishness of the world or righteousness, holiness and redemption through the power of Christ? Do you humbly demonstrate God’s wisdom and the joy you received through his grace? Who can you lead, with joy and gladness, to the palace of the king? These are thoughts to ponder and meditate on during this Lenten season.

Meditations: Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. (1Cor 1:24) You are the most excellent of men (women) and your lips have been anointed with grace, since God has blessed you forever. (Ps 45:2) How awesome is the Lord Most High, the king over all the earth. (Ps 47:2) For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end. (Ps 48:14)
