New Intern: Ellen Cutting

I am Ellen Cutting and I look forward to coming to Texas. I have just finished my second year of studies at Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio. I have been involved in the work of the church my entire life. My background is in organ performance and I have served as Music Director in not only the Lutheran church, but also the Presbyterian Church and the Jewish Temple in my home town. I found all of these experiences to be deeply rewarding and I have learned through all as I have traveled my faith journey. However, the Lutheran church is my home, and I find the Lutheran expression and articulation of faith and doctrine to be in my very bones.

I have also served in other positions within the life of the church. My home synod is the North/West Lower Michigan Synod. I am originally from Muskegon, Michigan, a community located on the beautiful shoreline of Lake Michigan. I served for two years as President of the Synodical Women’s Organization in my synod. I also chaired the Worship Committee for my home synod and helped to plan and participate in several synod assemblies. I served on the Synod Council and I was also a member of the Synod Anti-Racism Team. All of these experiences were formational to my life of faith as I live into my baptismal journey and call.

I have three sons, and all of them are living and working in various places in Michigan.

I look forward to coming to Calvary Lutheran Church, to getting to know all of you, and to learn more about ministry as I spend this next year in your midst while living into my call.
