The people of Calvary "devote themselves to the apostles' teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer."  (Act 2:42)

This description of life in the early Christian community is also our historic pattern for worship:  Reading; teaching the scriptures; the fellowship of gathering together as a community of faith; the Eucharist (breaking bread); and prayer.

"The liturgy of Holy Communion continues to 'embody the tradition of worship during the early centuries of the Church's existence' and as reaffirmed during the Reformation era."  (With One Voice, 4)

Sanctuary Choir
The Sanctuary Choir was the first musical ensemble organized at Calvary, assembling in 1956 under the leadership of Bob Ruddick and Evelyn Wilkerson, who also played the organ.

This superb musical ensemble supports and leads the congregation in the singing of the liturgy and hymns. Special choral works are offered that reflect and enhance the lessons assigned for the day. While the works are primarily acappella, there are pieces which employ instrumental accompaniment (organ, harpsichord, piano, strings, guitars, brass, bells woodwinds, etc.) Several original compositions and arrangements created by Calvary members are available for your use.

Sanctus Choir
This choir is for children from the 4th to 8th grades.

Cantorum/Bell Choir
This choir/bell group is for children 4th to 8th grades.

Seraphim Choir
This choir is for children from the 1st to 3rd grades.

Cherubim Choir

The Brass uplifts the Eucharist celebration on high feast days, playing festival settings of the liturgy and hymns. They also play pieces written specifically for brass ensembles, while joining the Sanctuary Orchestra and Bell Choirs for major ensemble works.
